The RSVP says 'NO!'

While I don't have much to plan for our wedding, it hasn't been all smooth for us. Whethere there are flowers to order or venues to book, there is always the one thing that always, something.
And this article brought a smile to my face - because I realised it's not just us.
It's your special day, but you're married to the mob - Tory Shepherd Feb 2010
The article talks about people refusing to come to weddings because things aren't planned the way 'they' want.
We've recently had a little bit of an issue with a particular family member saying they are not coming to the wedding because 1. there isn't going to be a formal meal, and 2. most importantly they don't like it that we are forcing them to go to Vanuatu for their holidays this year. They wanted to go to Phuket.
I wish people would realise that we have invited them to our wedding because they are important, not because we want presents or to fill numbers. Heck, I wanted only us to be at the wedding. I don't care who turns up. However, having people tell us that they are not coming not because they can't make it on that day or that they have other prior commitment, rather they don't like the way I have planned for my wedding, is kinda stupid isn't it?
Anyway, after swapping stories with another girlfriend of mine, it seems that she is also having similar problems, with also a family member 'boycotting' their wedding because it's not going to be a church one (the family is catholic but they have decided to have a civil ceremony)....
It's always the family members isn't it?
Oh wells.
