Shopping for wedding bands

I know it's another 12 months away, but we are now thinking about our wedding bands. While waiting for our car to be serviced today, we browsed the shops to look at options and alternatives.
I can't believe how much these things can cost. Looking at just a plain band from a general retail jeweller can cost $400 to $1000 each!
Wow.
Maybe we'll wait for christmas sales again.
There are quite a few things out there though. I never thought they would have as much choices for men these days as women. There are these contemporary designs you can get with bi and tri-coloured bands and you can get your own patterns on them. A friend of mine had their custom made with their own colours and designs on them. I am thinking about doing that. Because there are quite a few 'symbols' that we can use that means a lot to our relationship. Such as the Peruvian mother nature symbol. It was where we met, and also the first gift I got from Will while we were in Peru.
No, I am not going to customise wedding bands to be something like this... it's amusing but somewhere down the line I think I'll get sick of it
