A lonely traveller - is that a bad thing?

July 5th 2008 10:56
I love Dr Who. Besides the whacky story lines there is something about this being a time traveller going to all different centuries meeting all sorts of people/aliens and not having to really worry about... well, money, job, and responsibilities.

Dr Who
Dr Who - David Tennant

Ok, so he may have a responsibility of keeping history/future unaltered, being a Time Lord and that, but, if you really thing about his situation, he is a dude, that travels every day, meeting up with casual flings (not sure if he gets to sleep with any of them tho, are humans and Time Lords compatible?) and then going off again alone because this fling might have decided to stay with their people, or simply, dies at the end of the episode.

And sometimes I think from that point of view, it's not so bad being a lonely traveller is it? I mean, you are not really 'lonely', just don't have a constant companion that's all. You pick up those on your way and drop them off at various destinations before you start again.

Maybe it's just that nolstalgia about backpacking alone through Europe again.

You were very brave, maybe the good doctor is just moral and Christian, I used to love the older series, would watch with the children, we always had dinner at six and it was the one exception I allowed for TV watching at dinner time. Kids loved it.

Maybe I was not such a bad mum after all.

I can't see you as a bad mum Katyzzz! And good on you for letting them watch Dr Who. I wouldn't oppose to it myself!
