I am smitten and happy!
June 8th 2008 12:22
I have been flipping through the beautiful pages of a book named 'Smitten', of kitten photography by Rachael Hale, one of my sister's more thoughtful presents she bought me in the recent years.
Now, I know all about kitten happiness. My cat Kitty when little is always happy and extremely curious. She still is, just a lot more lazier with age to do anything about it. Some of the quotes in this book made me smile, as I can truly relate them to kittens and cats in general, on their enjoyment in life. Many of them, we as humans, really should learn from.
I mean, look at them. All they do all day is to find places to be happy in. Whether it be chasing a cockroach, trying to break into a loaf of bread or simply lying in the sunniest spot in the house. It's all because these things make them happy. Even when their owners yell at them, or push them off the table (where they were not allowed on in the first place) they simply turn around and find something else to do.
I mean, sure they don't have a worry in life and get fed whether or not they do their house-work (ie, eliminate the pest population around the house) but hey, isn't there something we can all learn from in our stressful world?
Here are some great quotes in the book (each complimented by an uber-cute kitten photo):
"Now and then it's good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy" (Guillaume apollinaire)
"No day is so bad it can't be fixed with a nap." (Carrie P Snow)
"The best way out if always through." (Robert Frost)
"Friendship is like vitamins - you supplement each other's minimum daily requirements." (Anonymous)
"Stressed is desserts spelt backwards." (Truism)
"If music be the food of love, play on" (William Shakespeare)
*This one is mine!* "The cure for boredom is curiosity... there is no cure for curiosity." (Ellen Parr)
"If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun." (Katharine Hepburn)
"To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream." (Anatole France)
"The reason angels can fly is because they take themselves lightly." (GK Chesterton)
and.... *drum roll*
"I have so much to do that I am going to bed!" (Savoyard Proverb)
Good night! Hope you all have a sweet dream!!

But, show me a kitten I melt,
Show me a cat and I live,
You've got it, I'm a cat person.

Hi Morgan - Yep, hence the phrase Curiosity kills the cat!
