Time to bring back obedience
January 4th 2010 10:24
I probably should be writing about my wedding plans and all the lovely things that is happening in 2010, but I cant help but bring this up since I saw the article in the news today:
A smacked child is a successful child
Over the last decade there has been so much debate on whether or not a child should be 'smacked' and there has been more and more restrictions on the obedience methods used by parents and teachers on children sometimes it just seems ridiculous.
And I can tell that children these days have just no respect because they know of these restrictions and are using it to their advantage!
Two of my high school friends are now teachers. One in primary school, one in high school. Teachers these days (I am sorry to say) have absolutely no power over the children at all. The children have become so cheeky, knowing the teachers are at risk of getting in trouble with the law if they say certain things, that they can actually threaten the teachers when they know they are the ones in trouble.
And mothers who does actually want to discipline their children by (obviously, in moderate actions) giving them a little smack on the legs, get told off by the passer bys that these kids now know how to get out of things.
I mean, seriously, we've all grown up being smacked silly, and that's how we learnt how to behave. We didnt all turn out that bad! Sometimes, children just cannot learn by being told, we've all been kids before, so I am sure you know - we always do what the parents tell us not to do - and the only way to learn? Daddy's belt is out. Better stop.
I think moderate smacking should be allowed. Otherwise, how are the kids to learn about the real world?
