Pets vs Kids

A colleague of mine just started her maternity leave and her baby is due anytime soon.
That started the whole office talking about kids.
How cute they are. How much joy they bring to the family.
What little shits they are, yet you learn to love them.
Being the newly wedded wife, I've been given many a lectures on this topic.
And then, last Saturday, we went to our niece's 2nd birthday. Children children everywhere. Cute, yes. Little shits? YES.
Two of them went around and licked off all the icing from the cup cakes.
Then another took bites out of the remaining cup cakes, spit it out and smear it all over the benches.
Lovely.
You know why I have cats at the moment?
Good kitties, never do such things. They just entertain themselves, and occasionally come and nag you for food.
You can even feed them for under a dollar a day.
For now, just for now, cats are perfect. Kids? Maybe later. Very much later.
