The move is complete
March 15th 2009 12:50
Today has finally come, after two full day of getting things organised, getting the house carpet cleaned and pest controlled, getting everything packed and into 1 van and 2 cars, and getting the garden trimmed and everything else in the house wiped and disinfected, we have completed our move to Sydney.
Boy, what a long two days it has been!
We have donated most of our stuff to the local Life Line warehouse, so we didn't really have too much to get back down. One van and 2 cars later everything is back down in Sydney in my parent's garage until we find a place to live.
For the past two days we have also been visiting all the places we will miss about Coffs Harbour - the look out, the Chinese restaurant, my store in the city centre, and had drinks with my ex-colleagues to promise to keep in touch. It had been very emotional and today, as I closed the door the very last time, I shed a tear.
Kitty had been a very good cat for the drive. The first 2 hours she meowed and meowed wanting to make sure we weren't just going to dump her somewhere. Then I think after that she realised that we were all in it together and relaxed and went to sleep. She has been at my parent's place quite a few times now so she didn't need time to familiarise herself with the house, and within the first 10 mins of entering she was already spread eagle on the kitchen floor making herself at home.
Wow. It feels like I've just woken up from a dream. It's quite weird actually, no matter how many times I have moved, every time I do I get very emotional and it all feels like it's gone so quickly that it never happened.
Well, looks like buying a house is a plan right now, and the fact that Will is going to be at uni for the next 3 years at least we'll have to settle somewhere and be comfortble for a while. Although, not so soon. As soon as I got back, and unpacked everything necessary I was already packing for my Hobart trip with my parents tomorrow. And next week? Bali!
