Cat and mummy reunited once again
September 29th 2008 12:17
Kitty has been with my parents for the past three months and now that dad finally got sick of having to take care of her, I was finally given the orders to bring her up.
(I did want her up earlier but mum loved her so much they wanted to try to keep her. Obviously didn't help if dad hates her)
So I put in a request for Jet Pets to go pick Kitty up from their place, give her a quick health check up, put her on a plane to Coffs Harbour and today, she finally landed. I excused myself for an hour from work for lunch so I could go pick her up. (We normally only get 30 mins) As I waited in the lounge area I've never been so nervous. I watched the sky as the Qantas flight slowly descended and touched the ground with a slight jolt and I knew Kitty is just as anxious to get off the plane as I am to see her.
So, I watched as people got out of the plane, and greeted their family and friends at the lounge. I watched as the baggage handlers painstakingly slowly unload the cargo one by one, onto the little cart. Finally, I see a cage being lifted onto the front of the cart and I felt relieved. I then watched as they drove around to the conveyer belt, and watched everyone get their luggage and happily headed off to the car park, until the conveyer belt stopped and the last luggage had been collected and I was alone - Where was Kitty?
I looked frantically around and there was no indication anyone was going to show up with a cage, then from the corner of my eye, I saw the cart being driven off toward the plane again and there she was - Kitty's cage was still on the cart and they had forgotten her. She'll be put back onto the plane and back to Sydney again by mistake.
I ran to the Qantas counter, panting and puffing and close to tears, and told the lady at the counter: "They've forgotten my cat! They are taking her back to Sydney!"
At first, she was a little confused then a laugh broken out.
"Don't worry Miss, your cat is just being taken to the Air Cargo Express office just 200 m down the road there. You'll find she's probably there in a cage now waiting for you."
Boy - DID I FEEL LIKE A GOOSE?
Poor thing was shivering and moewing as she saw me and as we got home, she gave me kisses after kisses before demanding for food.
Oh I am smitten and happy! Except now we are back having to battle for the most comfortable part of the couch. She always seem to get there first!
