It's always hard to say goodbye
May 29th 2008 10:45
Although my official last day is tomorrow, I decided to give myself the day off tomorrow (the whole team is going out to drinks anyway so I didn't see a point in 'working'), packed everything and said good bye to everyone this afternoon.
It's the second time I've had to say goodbye, and this time, with no intension to come back so soon in the future. And it was so hard.
I've met many people at work, and those whom I stayed friends with the last time I was with the organisation. Each and every one of them contributed to my career and my life there and they will sure be missed.
Many of them expressed that they are sure I'll do well wherever I go, and that the new job will sure to bring new challenges and happiness that I might enjoy. However, as I keep saying, it's hard for me to say goodbye not because I don't want to leave the job, but it's more that I don't want to leave the people.
It always makes a big difference when you work with great people. I must say I have been really fortunate in my professional career that every team I am in and every manager and colleagues I've had, all have been great. All had been supportive and helpful with my progress and the shift around the organisation.
So it's really about the people that I find hard to say goodbye to. As for the job - I've already said goodbye to that last week
As I filled my green shopping bag with my belongings (tea bags, mugs, photos and bits and pieces) and walked out of that door one last time, I almost cried. Thank god for email and all these social networking websites, at least it's easier to keep in touch now than before.
And - I'll be back one day. I am sure.

I'd been here only a month, and you're leaving already? Boy, do I hate it everytime I hear (or read) somebody saying goodbye.
Well, good luck on the new job Amy hope it doesn't consume you too much you can't find time to visit the poor souls you are leaving behind.
