Entertaining Mum and Dad
September 2nd 2008 09:19
My parents have just been up in Coffs Harbour to visit over the weekend. On my rarely got proper weekends I actually feel like I need another weekend to get over it.
So I've placed Mum and Dad in a nice resort on the beachside, so they can enjoy being pampered with a good bed and nice ocean sounds and a nice seaview. They also did expect me to be driving them around, showing them all sorts of places so I did.
So Friday night after work I went over, picked them up and took them to our place for dinner. Will made an excellent roast and all is well. They were pleased. Took them back to their hotel and met up with them again the next morning.
I drove them around, took them in land a little to see some national parks, and nice little towns like Bellingen for coffee. That didn't take too long and we were back in Coffs again and there was nothing else to do but just sit around, drink tea and wait for dinner.
When people expect to be entertained and there is nothing else to do - what DO you DO?
However, after a weekend of acting servant to them, they were pleased with their journey and returned home with a smile. That's always nice to know.
My folks are kind of high maintenance you see - they expect everything from you, because it's our duty. So now I am waiting for my next weekend when I can actually get some rest...
