Budgeting.

Now I know why my aunt and uncle (and I guess my parents as well) used to get really stressed. My cousins and I all went to private schools and admittedly the fees were high. She had to pay for the fees every half a year, along with all other bills and daily expenses that comes along. I have been doing some budgeting lately and it really is no easy task.
It's not like we don't have enough money, but it's the billls that comes at monthly, half yearly and yearly that sometimes jump out if you forget about them, and hit your credit card suddenly that you end up not preparing for it, and not being able to pay it off before the interest paymemts start to roll in.
I've been trying to think of clever ways of doing the budget but none of it worked, so I ended up gathering up all my bills, noting down what needs to be paid and when and how much, and calculating how many fortnights there are between now and the next payment date, and make sure that I put away a bit of money each fortnight when I get paid so that at the time when the bill comes, I have the money in hand to pay it all off.
But, it still isn't that easy. It took me a bit of time to sort out how many fortnights there are in a half yearly payment and adding it to the weekly spends and estimates of how much we'll need to set aside for groceries, petrol and my daily commune to work. Not to mention, my payment for the mortgage is about 10 days behind my pay cheque, so I'll need to make sure I have enough money for that in the bank available when the time comes.
Gosh - having to be an adult is never easy is it?
Does any one have any easier budgeting tips that you can share? Or a smarter way?

As you say, growing up is not easy and never has been, just different, but I think it is different for everyone, and having a family really complicates things, if only I had my life to live over......

Yes, I shall persist. I am sure I'll find a better way of doing things once everything is more clear!
