A girly retreat to the Blue Mountains
April 2nd 2009 06:44
A friend of mine is currently back visiting from her overseas work destination, so we decided that for once in a very long time that we (three of us) are actually in the same city at the same time we would take off and spend the night somewhere.
So we chose the blue mountains and organised a girly weekend.
Fiirst we got a cottage stay for a night in Leura. It's in a secluded little place surrounded by trees and a nice little garden. Too bad it was a bit wet. However, my friend ever thoughtfully arranged a spa package for us, had a car to pick us up and took us to Katoomba to The Carrington Hotel for a 2 hour massage with facial treatment. You know I never had a facial before, and that was very exciting. Never knew it could be so relaxing having someone just run their fingers all over your face with cream and gel and everything else.
It was really nice - I liked the place. They also use natural products too, which is nice to know. I really diddn't want to get up at the end of it - just wanted to drift off to sleep!
After that we had take away pizza and just sat annd drank wine. We haven't seen each other for a while and there was a lot to catch up on, and not being that much of a girly girl, I actually enjoyed just being with them and chatting about things.
It makes me miss the good old student days when we were all sharing a unit together and spent almost every night drinking beer and wasting time.
Will of course, was banned from coming but not that he minded. We wanted to talk about him anyway
It's good to be in touch with school and uni friends, and sometimes you do realise how much they mean to you. They are no longer just drinking buddies but have become people you go to for problems and joys. I guess you also find out who your real friends are at times llike these - those who are willing to stand by you, or those who just want to come along to parties.
We were talking about hens night ideas and a friend of mine recently just had a hens thing at a cooking class. I thought maybe a more action packed one and we can all go go karting or skirmish - perhaps a day cruise on the harbour? Either way - it's nice to know that whereever they'll be, they'll make the effort to come back for me.
